About Lapsebell

A reminder system for the paperwork that keeps you working.

Lapsebell is for contractors, restaurants, fleets, property managers and other small businesses whose work depends on licenses, permits, inspections and certificates that all expire on different dates.

WHY WE BUILT IT

Most lapses aren't negligence. They're a spreadsheet nobody opened.

Small businesses usually track renewals in a spreadsheet, a wall calendar or one person's memory. That works until the person who remembers is on vacation, a subcontractor's insurance quietly runs out, or a permit expires in the middle of a job.

A lapse can mean a stop-work order, a fine, a failed inspection or a lost contract, and it is almost always avoidable with a reminder at the right moment. Lapsebell exists to send that reminder.

What a lapse costs

An expired date rarely stays a paperwork problem.

The details depend on your state, your trade and your contracts, but these are the situations owners tell us they want to avoid.

Work stops

An expired permit or contractor license can halt a job until it's renewed, while your crew and equipment sit idle.

Fines and late fees

Many agencies charge late renewal fees or penalties, and some require you to start a lapsed application over.

Lost bids

General contractors, landlords and public buyers ask for current licenses and certificates before they award work.

Gaps you didn't know about

A subcontractor's certificate of insurance or an employee's certification can expire without anyone in the office noticing.

What Lapsebell is
  • A shared list of everything your business has that expires
  • Reminders by email, and by text if you opt in, before and after each date
  • A record of when each item was renewed, and what it cost
  • A calendar, a CSV export and a public page for the credentials you choose
What it isn't
  • An insurance agency, broker or marketplace. We never quote or sell coverage
  • A licensing service. We don't file renewals or talk to agencies for you
  • A verification service. Dates come from you and we say so on public pages
  • A marketing tool. We don't send promotional texts, ever
How we work

Four rules we built Lapsebell around.

01

Do one job well

Know what expires, remind the right person in time, and keep a record of the renewal. No upsells, no marketplace, no insurance offers.

02

Fewer, better messages

Items due on the same day arrive together. Reminders go out at 8 AM local time. Text messages are optional and only for the account owner who turns them on.

03

Your data stays yours

Documents are stored privately and can only be downloaded from your account. Export everything to CSV at any time. We never sell or share your information.

04

Honest about limits

Dates come from you, and we don't verify licenses with the issuing agency. Your public credentials page says so, plainly.

Your data

Built to be trusted with your paperwork.

We store only what the service needs: your account details, the items you track and their reminders. Mobile numbers are used only for the text messages you choose, and are never sold, rented or shared for marketing.
